BLACKWING

Lauded across the creative industries since the 1930's, Blackwings are hailed as the finest pencil ever made. Celebrated fans are myriad and include such creative luminaries as Steinbeck, Sondheim, Capote, Bernstein, Quincy Jones, Igor Stravinsky and Duke Ellington. Chuck "What's Up Doc" Jones created bugs Bunny with one and Disney's Shamus Culhane (who used one to animate Pinocchio, Snow White and Woody Woodpecker), even asked to be buried with his Blackwing. A legion of proponents such as these birthed a cult following that led to single pencils being sold for $40 when temporarily discontinued in 1998.

Made from renewable Californian Incense Cedar wood and combined with a very high-quality graphite core, Blackwings come in four main varities of differing graphite density (soft to extra firm). The variations ensure there's a Blackwing for every job, whether that be animation, woodworking, writing, technical drawing, sketching or musical notation. Each variation features a timeless finish (Matte, Pearl, Natural and Grey), iconic square Blackwing ferrule and replaceable eraser. Long story short: with best-in-class design, premium materials and the most impressive pedigree of any item on the list, Blackwing define Good.
