CONRAN OCTOPUS

Terence Conran was one of Britain's most famous and successful designers, who revolutionised the image and business of design, from the 1960s all the way through to his death in 2020. In 1964 he created Habitat, bringing well-designed, affordable homeware to the high street, and in 1989 he founded The Design Museum. Not content with dominating only retail and design, he launched a slew of popular, high-class London restaurants (Quaglino's, Bibendum, Neal Street etc), and in 1984 co-founded Conran Octopus Publishing with Paul Hamlyn.

Founded on Conran’s belief that good design improves the quality of people’s lives, the publishers remains dedicated to creating books that are both useful and beautiful. They produce informative, inspiring books about interiors, design, gardening and cookery, with authors who have included Gordon Ramsay, Monty Don, LEON restaurants, Dan Pearson and British Vogue. As befits a company founded by Terence Conran, their production standards are incredibly high. Their books are meticulously designed and printed using the highest quality materials and techniques, to ensure every one could be sold in his stores, viewed in his museum, displayed in his restaurants or been thumbed through by the great man himself.
