ESTWING

One hundred years ago in Rockford, Illinois, Ernest O. Estwing came up with a novel idea for a stronger type of hammer. Hammers at the time sported a wooden handle, which made them susceptible to breaking. Estwing realised that if he forged the whole implement from a single piece of steel, they would last lifetimes. The result was an indestructible hammer that cost $2, double that of the prevailing wooden versions. Despite scoffs from his contemporaries that nobody would pay the price, he began production in 1923.

A century later, these guys still make the finest hammers available and Estwing's single-piece design is now industry standard for hammers of any quality. Their traditional leather-wrapped handles add an attractive, comfortable grip that improves with use. Whether amateur or professional, unparalled balance and temper, alongside a perfectly smooth, milled face make them a dream to use. Estwing are so sure of what they've built, they even offer a lifetime guarantee as standard.
