Graphic Image

Graphic Image was founded in New York in 1977 by Bennett Glazer with a straightforward ambition: to make books and stationery that people would want to keep for life. More than fifty years later, they're still producing many of their pieces by hand in the United States, using fine leathers, traditional bookbinding techniques and the sort of craftsmanship that's increasingly hard to find. While most books are designed to be read and replaced, these guys have spent decades making them worth holding on to.

That's what makes the brand interesting. Rather than treating a book as something disposable, these guys turn it into an object in its own right. Their leather-bound editions of classic titles are beautifully made, with hand-finished bindings, gilt page edges and the kind of attention to detail usually reserved for heirlooms. They make exceptional gifts, but they're just as easy to justify buying for yourself. They have a way of turning an ordinary bookshelf into something that feels more like a personal library, adding the depth and character that only beautifully bound editions can. The sort of books that are handed down rather than replaced.
