L'Atelier du Vin
L’Atelier du Vin began in France in 1926, founded by a family from Champagne who had owned vineyards for generations. What started with equipment for winemakers gradually evolved into something more interesting: applying the same understanding of wine to the tools used to open, serve and enjoy it. A century later, the business is still family-run, with ideas developed in its Paris design studio and many of its pieces shaped and finished in workshops in northern France.
What these guys understand particularly well is that wine accessories can be technically excellent and still look fantastic. In fact, they make some of the best-looking wine tools in the industry. Corkscrews, stoppers and serving pieces combine solid wood, metal and glass with sculptural forms that feel closer to good industrial design than standard barware. Many of the mechanisms are patented, but the cleverness never gets in the way. They work beautifully, look sharp enough to leave out, and bring a level of design to wine accessories that most brands simply can't muster.
