Secrid began in the Netherlands in the early 1990s when designers René van Geer and Marianne van Sasse van Ysselt realised the traditional wallet wasn’t keeping pace with what people actually carried in their pockets. They refined ideas for years before releasing the Cardprotector in 2009, a compact aluminium design with a simple slide mechanism that fans out your cards cleanly. It wasn’t showy, just clever and solid, and it quickly defined the brand’s direction.
