WE ARE REWIND
We Are Rewind was founded by Romain Boudruche and Florian Bretones, two French audiophiles with a deep love for the nostalgic charm of physical, tangible music. In a world of cloud-streamed audio, these guys are part of a contemporary movement focused on fostering that old school connection we had, before everything became digitised and uploaded into the ether. With demand growing since 2012 and over 20,000 units sold last year, it's clear they're on to something.
From their Parisian base, the company designs beautiful, retro products with integrated modern tech. And they've got the mix just right. Bluetooth, rechargeable batteries and modern build-quality are packaged alongside manual rewind/fast-forward buttons, a physical headphone jack and that little porthole for checking how far through the tape you are. The headphones feature those classic interchangeable ear cushions and that light, springy metallic headband we all recognise, but with wireless connectivity, built-in track control and you can even answer calls with them. Building a bridge between old-school style and modern convenience isn't easy, but with clear passion and considered design, we think WAR have pitched this one perfectly.
