Why It Made The List

Designed in 1911, this one's an icon in the world of fountain pens, celebrated for vintage, understated looks and reliable functionality. As well as the hexagonal shape (which stops it rolling off your desk), the Sport was designed to be compact, slipping into any pocket but expanding to full size when the cap is "posted" on the end. Its octagonal shape and oversized cap have become iconic in the world of fountain pens and the use of greener, untreated "eco brass" means an attractive patina will develop over time. The chrome-plated, stainless steel nib provides a smooth and consistent writing experience and we've chosen a medium sized nib here, as it affords greater flexibility, no matter the demands of the task or experience of the user.

The Sport's portable, condensed design makes it perfect for on-the-go use, fitting easily into pockets, portfolios or pencil cases. Its famously compact size can be extended if the cap is "posted" on the end, so it really is as flexible as they come; a fact that gave birth to its famous slogan: "Small in the pocket, large in the hand."

It can accept standard international ink cartridges or utilise a separately available converter for bottled ink, offering versatility and convenience whatever their preferred style.
