This piece depicts the infamous contre-la-montre; man "against the mountain" in the ultimate test of focus, power and aerodynamics - the time trial. The subtle halftone textures used can only be appreciated in person, while the Caracteres typeface is a knowing nod to the famous font of the French road sign. Featuring striking halftone textures (think Roy Lichtenstein) and vibrant colours, Contre-la-Montre takes its name from the French term for the time trial, where a solo rider completes a course against the clock. The time trial requires the ultimate in focus and effort and this print highlights the rider’s commitment, power and aerodynamic position as they battle against the wind and terrain.

The print features The Handmade Cyclist's signature stripped-back style and subtle, design-led detailing. This includes the use of the Caracteres typeface which is used on every road sign in France.

Contre-la-Montre features fine details and a premium quality finish, with super-subtle textures that are only truly revealed when you see the print up close and in the flesh.

Like all THC's artwork, it's custom printed for you in their studio on premium-quality paper stock, using archival inks that will last decades.
