Experts Say

They are widely regarded as among the top pioneers and innovators in this relatively new art-form - Playing Card Decks

Why It Made The List

Created by Dan and Dave Buck for Brooklyn-based Art of Play, these cards are a celebration of classic playing card design done properly. Printed on Thin Crushed® Stock, they have a softer, more responsive feel that makes shuffling, dealing and handling noticeably better from the first use. The design leans timeless rather than flashy, with clean typography, balanced colours and small details that reward a closer look. They handle beautifully straight out of the box and break in quickly, which is exactly what you want from a deck you’ll actually use. A thoughtful, well-made set of cards that feel just as good on the table as they do in the hands.

MORE DETAIL

Damn Good Cards are a premium deck of playing cards designed by Dan and Dave Buck in collaboration with Art of Play.

They’re built as an everyday deck with a focus on balance, handling and durability rather than novelty or ornament.

The cards use a classic, restrained graphic style, keeping the faces clear and familiar while giving the deck a distinctive, modern identity.

They’re produced to professional standards, making them suitable for cardistry, magic, casual play and regular table use.

The deck is finished for smooth, consistent handling straight out of the box, with an emphasis on reliability over flash.

Packaged in a clean, understated tuck case, they’re designed to feel equally at home on a card table, in a jacket pocket or as part of a considered collection.

Simple, functional and well resolved, they reflect Dan and Dave’s approach to making tools that perform first and age well with use.
