The Danish Fuel Drinks Cabinet begins life as a genuine post-war jerry can — the same ingenious form first designed in 1937 by Vinzenz Grünvogel of Müller Engineering for the German military.

Its pressed-steel body, cross-stamped panels and triple-handle design made it one of the most efficient and enduring objects of 20th-century industrial design.

Danish Fuel reclaims those original cans, restoring and re-engineering them by hand in Denmark to create functional furniture with history built in.

Each cabinet is stripped, sand-blasted and refinished in a deep silk-matte Racing Green enamel before being fitted with a stamped metal tag noting its year and production batch — no two are ever the same.

Inside, the transformation is meticulous: a mirrored back adds depth and reflection, while precision-cut shelves in oak keep bottles, glassware and bar tools neatly organised.

The door closes with a secure metal clasp and matching dog-tag key set, keeping contents protected without disturbing the clean silhouette.

It can be wall-mounted via hidden rear brackets or displayed freestanding, depending on where you want the focus.

Dimensions are 50 × 35 × 20 cm and weight is 6.2 kg — substantial enough to feel like a piece of furniture but compact enough for a sideboard or wall mount.
