Why It Made The List

Some beaut new pencils from one of the coolest brands to come out of America in years. Field Notes founder Aaron Draplin designs with an eye on classical, mid-century styling and these tactile, non-lacquered pencils fit nicely in the range. They feature FSC-certified, renewable wood casings, non-toxic imprint inks and a #2 graphite core. For this new 2025 line the brand have added a punchy orange eraser and ornate, recyclable aluminium ferrule, keeping the end product as sustainable as they are satisfying to use. There's six in a pack and they're perfect for drawing, illustration, writing, doodling, woodwork, musical notation and anything that benefits from a bit of old school creativity.
