Blackwing are quite simply the best pencils ever made. Famous exponents have included everyone from John Steinbeck to Truman Capote and Quincy Jones. Chuck Jones created Bugs Bunny and the Looney Tunes with them and Shamus Culhane (of Pinocchio, Snow White and Woody Woodpecker fame) even asked to be buried with his Blackwing.

Sets of the original lines sell on eBay today for hundreds of dollars and their fanbase is so strong, their fervent appreciation ensured the range was brought back from discontinuation in 2011.

Blackwing 602s are the original model–the ones that started it all. They feature a harder lead with higher graphite content, roughly the equivalent of a standard B pencil. That makes them perfect for anything that benefits from a crisper, more defined line, e.g. writing, detailed illustration or technical drawing.

Crafted from renewable Californian Incense cedar wood and combined with premium-quality Japanese graphite, each pencil features that iconic gunmetal finish, famous rectangular Blackwing ferrule and pink, replaceable eraser.

All Blackwing pencils come unsharpened in a 12-pack gift box that also doubles as a pencil cup.
