Why It Made The List

These 7" carpenter pencils are a great little product from a beloved American brand. They fit nicely in your apron, overall pocket or behind most ears, and due to their flat design, won't roll away while you work. That shape also means thicker, wider lead for scribing on wood and an easier grip in gloves. They're not the largest or most expensive present you can buy, but make great surprise additions for the main gift. To round things off, they're made of FSC-certified wood, which you'll have to sharpen with a knife, the old fashioned way.
