Experts Say

Designed in Copenhagen and Made in Solingen, Veark stands for the highest quality with its knives, which are all unique - GQ (Germany)

Why It Made The List

As with all Veark's knives, the BK22 is an arresting marriage of Danish design and German engineering. Imagined in Copenhagen but forged in Solingen, it's difficult to think of better heritage for great looking kitchenware of the highest quality. The blade is laser cut from premium stainless steel, with 6mm teeth and a very subtle curve, which makes cutting smooth and effortless all the way through. It's then sandblasted to an attractive matt finish, before that beautiful beech wood handle is added, which over time will develop its own unique patina.

N.B. Subject to 18+ age verification on checkout (OneID) and delivery (Royal Mail)

MORE DETAIL

The BK22 bread knife compliments Veark's fully forged collection, but with its own signature design.

Made in the famous German knife-making town of Solingen, it's worth highlighting what this means for their products. One of the most famous forging towns in the world, Solingen carries a geographical trademark, like Champagne or Scotch. Unless bladed products pass the local certification process for quality and provenance, they cannot bear the Solingen name. Globally renowned makers like Wüsthof, Zwilling J. A. Henckels and Böker are all based there and after 200+ years at it, the town knows a thing or two about making knives. It's this choice of manufacturing location that adds such credibility to Veark's products and is undoubtedly why their knives receive such good reviews for quality and durability.

The BK22 was designed and developed in partnership with Jesper Gøtz, a Copenhagen based chef and bread maker with a passion for craft in all details of production. Gøtz shares the same philosophy as Veark: to create great food with fewer, higher quality ingredients and tools. The rounded tip of the BK22 blade, as well as the extra support for the balancing finger can be attributed to Jesper’s experience in cutting through big loaves of sourdough everyday.
